Over 700 people attend Love Hessle Community Open Day
On Sunday 16th March, Hessle Town Council was pleased to welcome over 700 people to a Community Open Day at the recently renovated Hessle Town Hall.
The event, which aimed to help people find out more about their local community, included over 30 stands hosted by Hessle based businesses, community groups and charities. Plus, there were Q&A sessions and stage performances from local talents such as Hessle Theatre Company, Troupers Entertainment Ltd, Priory Park Singers, Freesoles Dance, Steve’s Music School and Vicky Robinson Dance School.
The open day also helped to raise £265 for Humber Rescue, who as the Mayor of Hessle’s charity of the year, sold drinks at the event.
The event also marked the launch of a new Love Hessle shop local initiative, which encourages members of the public to pick up a loyalty card and collect a stamp for every purchase over £10.
Once full, a card can be exchanged for a Love Hessle tote bag designed by Millie Clark, a Hessle artist.
Both the open day and shop local scheme have been made possible due to support from East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Business Support Services and funding from the UK Government.
